Best Australia bank/credit union?
Me and my partner are spending October through March on a working holiday in Australia. Our goal is to save money to bring back to the USA with us. What should we know about banking in Australia? How will we go about getting our money back into our US credit union while minimizing loss due to fees & exchange rates?
Lloyds UK bank account suspneded while I am in the USA!
Hi all,
So my UK Lloyds regular bank account was suspended while I was in the USA and now they want me to show up in a local branch. I have spent three days on the phone explaining to them that I cannot because I am in the USA at the moment.
They insist that I do and until then all my funds are frozen! Nightmare!
It looks like I will have to fly home just to show my face at the branch so I can access my funds. Anyone had anything like this? Do I really have to fly back to the UK just to ID myself?
Thank you!

Need an online bank for when I travel that has no fees
My friend and I are going on an extended trip (6+ months) to Europe in April. We'd like to have two atm/debit cards to use drawing from the same account, but we need an online bank that we can use the cards internationally and not get charged a fee. Netbank used to do this but apparently was taken over by ING Direct. Not sure where else to turn!
why is there an ATM withdrawal fee in the US?
i live in boston. i love to travel. why is it that when i go to spain or italy or australia or new zealand, or even fiji, there is no fee to withdraw money from an ATM, but when i go to portland, ME, a mere 100 miles north, the ATM withdrawal fee is always $1-$2?
