Fraudulent charges were made to my debit card. In the end my bank has taken the hit and refunded all the stolen money. However, I’d like to understand how it happened. [more inside]

I am with Scotia Bank in Canada, and between every 3 and 6 weeks, my bank card just stops working. Scotia has prevented people from swiping it. It leaves me without cash. I cannot take money out, and I cannot use it on POS terminals. [more inside]

I have near perfect credit. I only use my Discover card that I have rewards on and pay off the balance every month. I do have a credit card from a credit union that I never use. I just received a letter in the mail that stated that the credit union credit card is about to expire and won't be reissued due to inactivity. Will this affect my credit? If I don't care about the card, should I just let it "die"? Thanks

In a meeting today, I was told that Congress will be requiring Visa/Mastercard and the various banks that provide Magnetic-Stripe debit and credit cards to their customers to upgrade their technology to cards that incorporate SMARTCARD technology, with unique card ID-numbers. [more inside]

I had two Bank of America credit cards. Both were of the high interest types (21% and 25% interest). I owed in the area of 5 thousand dollars total and I knew that it was time to bite the bullet and take the money out of my savings to pay them off. I may have been late in payments a few times (not often) and usually I only paid the minimum payment due. I naively thought paying them off completely would be viewed as a positive thing. I paid them both off just days ago. [more inside]
