Need a new hub for my living room 2.1 sound system. Audiophiles, help!

I'm simplifying my audio setup to a bookshelf speaker/subwoofer system in my living room, after a Peachtree Nova/Ohm Walsh MicroTall setup for several years. How to improve sound on a wired fm modulator?

Today I had a wired fm modulator installed in my 2003 Lexus ES300. The one used was the "Farenheit Phase Lock Loop FM Modulator (EFM-01 / EFM01)." My issue seems to be that when the music is quiet/not busy, it comes through clear, but when the sounds pick up I get some seriously bad buzzing/distortion. [more inside]

Add an auxiliary line-in to Lexus ES300?

I have a 2003 Lexus ES300. I'm looking to slowly upgrade the factory audio system. First step, enable the system to play my mp3 player without using a tape adapter or fm transmitter. I can't add a new headunit with this input, as the Lexus has a custom dash that would make install sloppy looking, and would cost a lot of money... [more inside]
