So I just got off the phone and a little reeling so forgive me. My very pregnant wife (8 months), was followed by an unfamiliar co worker to a distant parking lot today and felt both unsafe and that she couldn't leave/disengage for 40 minutes. Is that ok, if not what should we do? [more inside]

My employer is trying to keep me on and I want to leave.

Essentially, it's a small company and no one else right now is trained to fully handle my responsibilities. So they are offering a raise while I postpone leaving. However, I don't really feel like staying any longer than I legally have to or reneging on my agreement with my new employer. [more inside]

How can I make onboarding/integration successful for my new employee?

We (an in-house legal team) hired a new lawyer, and they are starting remotely on Monday. They will report to me, but do work for several people across our businesses. I want to do whatever I can to make their first few days comfortable and interesting, to start to establish a good bond, and to get us set up for success in the future. Remote starters/HR onboarders/good bosses: what should I do (and not do) to get things off to a great start? (Bonus question: any tips on how to generally be a good remote boss to a new employee?) HR reprimanded me for discussing protests. Now what?

My boss started a thread in Teams about the BLM protests locally and shared a link to a digital town hall meeting being held by my city’s mayor to discuss the current state of civil unrest. I asked if I could share an informational link to the protestors’ demands (all of which were non-violent and specifically pertaining to current laws and policies). I was given the go ahead by my boss so I posted them. Today my manager told me someone reported my posts to HR and that I was to delete the posts. What exactly are my next steps? [more inside]

Self-reporting job satisfaction to HR

European here, working in a European company but with US owners. Owners have an online HR system where we are required to put in basically our CVs. That's fine. However, there's one field that gives me pause: Current Job Satisfaction. Are there any reasons at all to not put in a high score here? Will my boss know if I apply for another job within the university?

I work at a large university. I'd like to apply for another job within the university, but I'd rather my current boss not know I'm applying. The only way to apply is via the university HR's online application system. Will my current boss likely be alerted that I'm applying for another job via that system? Or is it standard for large HR departments to keep this kind of thing confidential? (I looked for an answer to this question within the HR website, but found only a statement that my information would not be shared "outside of those involved in the hiring and recruiting process.") Thanks especially to anyone with personal HR or supervisor experience in a large educational setting who might know how this typically works.
