Trying to save for a sequencer. And I am conflicted and looking for any thoughts. Primarily I'm thinking $800 or less. So far I have a Volca FM, Volca Drum and PO-12. I used to have some original Electribes (ER1, EM1, EA1), so I'm comfortable with the "Korg" way in general but am open to others. Looking for dedicated/standalone (so no Maschine type samplers or Launchpad). [more inside]
Looking for a specific kind of cozy that has a domestic, connected-with-nature, everything-will-be-alright vibe. If it features homesteading, dogs, fireplaces, children or wise grandmothers - all the better! I especially like it if the cozy protagonist goes against the grain of the established system. Things that have been the right kind of cozy for me before below the cut: [more inside]
For my running workouts I've been using Whiskey & Bananas, a playlist podcast by the ad agency OKRP, that I found more or less serendipitously on Apple podcasts. This is peak running podcast for me, it combines fun, funk, a bit of irony / melancholy, and, crucially, mostly a good beat that you can plod to. Please help me find a new one that's as good (difficult) as or better (impossible?) than, preferably on Apple podcasts, although I'm not averse to getting a new app if the pod is good.
How did people in the olden days cut precise quilt pieces without Olfa rulers and rotary cutters? I’d like to cut reasonably precise pieces without tools beyond scissors and a regular ruler. Is there a book about this? Any kind of detailed instruction? I’d prefer pictures to video but I’ll take either. [more inside]
I've been playing the Civilization and SimCity games since I was a teenager. They are the only games I play. Please help me find a new game I might like. Must be playable on a PC or Mac laptop. [more inside]
I've been watching this Let's Play of Silent Hill 2 and really enjoying it. I'd like to watch other Let's Plays of other games in the series that are similar in tone. [more inside]
What is the best bicycle that's not too expensive? [more inside]
I have the thrilling unexpected gift of several weeks next to a fjord that's easily swimmable when I'd assumed it wouldn't be. After 8 hours total in the fjord over 4 days, I'm feeling confident, but I want to keep being safe – especially after this heat wave fades. I'd love some advice about which sensations in the body you've found to mean it's time to stop (because the experience is so incredible I'm battling some strong "I don't wanna stop" instincts). I heard this chant all last year and could never make out any words. It seemed to appear at loads of games, so not identified with one particular club, and I *think* I heard it during Championship games so not necessarily just a PL thing, but I could be wrong about that. (Recorded here a few minutes ago during Liverpool v. Norwich). Obviously I can’t google it because I don’t have a single word to hook the search on, and I’ve spent way too long down the rabbit hole of football chant forums with no luck. I can’t take another year of not knowing it! Help?
My entire life, I never liked any professional sports - I've fallen asleep at professional sports games when I've gone with friends or for work events. UNTIL last year, when my roommate invited me to go see the Chicago Sky WNBA team! I've been obsessed ever since. Now what do I do when they are not playing? [more inside]
I’m still figuring out how much loud environments mess me up, but, uh, they definitely mess me up, to the point of pain / tension / armoring up like an armadillo. This makes connecting on first dates really hard! What are your go tos for quiet but fun first dates? I’m in Brooklyn, so anything NYC specific is great, but also I bet I’m not the only one with this problem. What say you, hivemind?
I have to learn some choreography where I am being dipped by my partner (my hands around his neck), and then swiveled around in a half-circle before being brought back up. I'm having trouble figuring out how to hold myself up and distribute my weight during this. [more inside]
Okay I'm totally into planners and bullet journals now, and I'd love to find a blog that just shows off a variety of other people's spreads and neat stickers/tools. I don't want just one person's blog of their spreads, but something that aggregates a bunch of the best spreads from all over bujo/planner-world. It's very easy to find one-person blogs, but very hard to find a showcase of the coolest stuff from across the bujo/planner space! [more inside]
I recently moved to Chicago from Boston. Do the equivalents of my favorite Boston places exist here? Three part question. [more inside]

I've tried to Google this, but I'm not having much luck in finding a good answer. In English, many Pokemon names are jokes or puns of some kind (examples: Trubbish, who looks like a garbage bag, and its evolution Garbodo; the trio of Abra, Kadabra, and Alakazam; Tentacool; Cloyster). This culminated in one of my favorite Pokemon jokes of all time. So... do the original Japanese names follow similar joking patterns? Are there puns in the Japanese names that might elicit groans the same way "Trubbish" does?
I have an old safelight, the Kodak Adjustable Model B, that I need to disassemble to replace power cord which is now stiff and a potential shock hazard. I have been unable to find a manual for it that shows how to take it apart. Anyone have a manual or can explain how to take it apart? Thanks.
I purchased a used but in great shape Cozy Trike EMS-48 mobility scooter to get her out of the house (she doesn't drive) and eventually ride it outside of our neighborhood to the store or park. I read on this forum in a post: "Electric vehicles (cars, bikes, golf carts, electric bikes, scooters) are legal on non-arterial roads with a posted speed limit of 35mph or lower. Electric carts (golf) and non-plated electric or motor vehicles are never allowed on arterial roads (streets rated at 40mph and higher).". When I spoke to the local Mundelein, IL police department on the phone they were not clear in understanding this rule or law. [more inside]
I have too many passions and too little time. Help me fit things into my erratic weekly schedule so that I make progress on everything. [more inside]
As a sensitive snowflake, I find all the sunscreens I've used to have annoying odors (even "all natural" ones claiming to be odor-free). I especially need something to put on my nose that won't drive me crazy. So, if any kind soul could recommend either a stick or lotion that is truly undetectable, it'd be appreciated.
