I will soon be flying to Montreal (from Europe) arriving around 15:30. How long, roughly, will it take for me to complete the arrivals process? I am hoping to catch a bus from the airport to Quebec City and was wondering which bus I will likely end up catching. Thanks!

Every parent has their own preferred term of address. We have a lot of "daddy" board books, but comparatively few "mama" selections. I'd like to change that. What does the hivemind recommend?

My neighborhood has a Nextdoor group for people who hate to use Facebook and a rival Facebook neighborhood group for people suspicious of Nextdoor. This is not working. I am thinking of creating some kind of group texting like an old-fashioned telephone tree but I don't know how to go about it.

I currently have a job with great quality-of-life perks, but it's low-pay, I'm bored and it isn't looking like there's much more career growth here. I want to move on, but I am lost every step of the way, including in deciding whether I should leave at all.

My car needs several repairs according to the scheduled maintenance. A family member errs on the opposite side of "replace nothing as a preventative, only when it breaks." As a woman I don't trust a mechanic to be straight with me about prudent but conservative car maintenance. Can you help?

We're moving our largish 1 bedroom apartment's worth of stuff (furniture, dishes, books, decor) at the end of August. Our first pick would be to hire a moving company. But is there any reputable moving company under the sun? Every company has a slew of horror stories: broken and lost stuff, extortionist price hikes or inflated weight claims, massive delays. Do you know of any affordable company that can be trusted, or a company that's pricier but more reliable? Or, would it be best to just do the packing, driving, and gas-buying ourselves in a UHaul?

My four-year old is physically able to stay dry all night, but started wetting the bed when I mentioned no longer using pull-ups. We’re now going on six months of wet pull-ups after six months of dry and I don’t know how to proceed or to reassure her that change is okay.

My six-year-old daughter, currently obsessed with the Beatles, has been asking for a drum kit for months. What would be a good, cheap "starter" option for a child her age? Where do we begin?

I'd like to get my senior mother's finances sorted out, but I have no idea where to begin. By sorted out, I mean managed. I don't do any investing myself and my finances are pretty simple, so I feel out of my depth.

I want a hatchback car. However, none of the available pool seems ideal or I have concerns for long-term reliability. Should I lower my standards, accept that a well-rated sedan is my future, or is there another option?

What are good examples of simple, or understated, honors, regalia and awards that are extremely important? I'm thinking of things like the Roman grass crown, a crown of grass and wildflowers that was considered the highest military honor, or the Hellenic white silk headband diadems that showed kingly authority.

Over in the current POTUS45 megathread on the Blue, the question "How does everyone keep up with the news?" came up. Rather than expand on the topic there, I wanted to ask the Green how everyone these days manages not only to stay informed about issues important to them - without entering a bubble - but also to avoid burning out or becoming overwhelmed. For the former, are what are particular websites, Twitter lists, or podcasts that provide useful news digests? For the latter, do people practice certain techniques to manage media-induced stressing out, such as restricting the number of sources to check regularly, setting aside specific times of the day for them, or limiting the amount of time spent on them? What else is there to do?

I am receiving a half-dozen antique Griswold pans from my parents. Mostly frypans, but also a couple waffle irons and a muffin tin. The cookware was hung from the wall as decorations for most of the past couple decades, and my parents had stuck felt pads on the edges of the pans to keep them from marring the wallpaper. How do I safely remove the (decades-old) glue residue?

I work in an office in a room shared with five other grad students. There's one guy in the office who constantly walks in and out of the office. I work near the door, and he works deeper in the room (away from the door), so I constantly have to see him coming in and out of the doorway. I kept track and once he walked in and out of the office twenty times in an hour. Is my annoyance reasonable? If so, how do I tell him to tone it down?

I inherited 12 metal filing cabinets at work, which is great. They each came with their own key. Because of protocol i have to constantly open and close those cabinets, several times a day each. Now i have a huge keyring jingling from my side all day, and even though i numbered and color coded the keys, still waste a lot of time fussing with the locks.

I'm moving from Sydney to Toronto next March. I have the basics lined up - airbnb booked for the first 2 months, insurance cover before OHIP kicks in. Our first day will be dedicated to exciting things like applying for an SIN, opening bank accounts, getting a phone plan, possibly exchanging drivers licence. Looking at forums, I think that covers all the important stuff, but is there anything that I am missing or any quirks I should be aware of?

When making popcorn on the stove, I always pop in a couple "tester kernels" with the oil while it is heating. I was taught that once those kernels have popped, the oil is sufficiently hot and the rest of the kernels can then be added. Why is this necessary? Doesn't the act of adding a bunch of room-temperature kernels bring down the temperature of the oil anyway, causing the oil to have to re-heat? Can't I just add all the kernels in at once and let everything heat up together? The testers never appear to taste burnt or off to me- in fact it's impossible for me to tell which ones they were once all the other kernels have popped.

I'm almost 50 and just got my driver's license. I'm considering buying a van or SUV or VW Bus so I can take road trips with my dog. Do you have any advice for someone buying their first used vehicle? Also, I'm in Canada and have considered buying a used car in the US and then driving it back (and road tripping a bit on the way), but I cannot make head-nor-tail of how hard it is to drive a car back -- what fees are involved and such. Would hate to buy a car and be told at the border that I can't import it or the costs are crazy prohibitive. Any help appreciated.
