I'm trying to fight an unhealthy addiction to the news/soap opera hybrid we have in the United States. But I want to stay aware enough to at least try to make a tiny difference.

I'm looking for children's books about everyone being valuable, but NOT because they have some kind of interesting attribute or useful ability.

The Wikipedia article for the shooting of Charles Kinsey says that the officer who was disciplined was required to write "...a 2,500-word essay on communication and weapon discharges." Where can I read that essay?

Quite simply, I'm looking for songs that are very similar to B. Squid's "Tip Me Over" – the catchy melody, the skilled rapid-patter verses. And, for your trouble, a very cool video at that link.

All my short stories are saved as .doc on my iMac (OS Catalina). Any document I try to open comes up in textedit only. I was going to subscribe to Microsoft Office for Word but the recent reviews have been just terrible. I am trying LibreOffice instead. Unfortunately, Submittable only takes .doc or docx. What are my options here?

My fiance startled me terribly with a hard doubled-sided poke from behind and I went full Rottweiler on him.

I've received some packages from Amazon, addressed to me, with items that I didn't order. The packages included gift notes saying "enjoy the gift" and saying it's from me (my full name). Has anyone encountered something like this? Is this some sort of scam?

One that has a decent fan, and is QUIET. A decent filter would be nice; good louver direction would nice. QUIET.

Photos on imgur Found in a bush in the UK during a ramble. I'd like to plug it in to see if it it has an email address or postcode in it so it can make its way back to the owner. Found in the UK, where there doesn't seem to be a repatriation service run by Fitbit. I also don't know if it is a real Fitbit or something else. What charger would allow this to connect to a computer and hopefully make its way home?

Please tell me about any book/story/movie of which you're aware in which a person/animal/whatever visits the North Pole / Santa's workshop. Given that current conditions make library acquisition difficult, I'd be grateful if in addition to listing the book you could tell me a little about it.

So things are looking very rough here in South Africa re covid 19. I'm personally fairly safe at the moment but feeling completely overwhelmed by my knowledge that things are spiralling out of control all around me, and that my husband will be having to go work in an unsafe environment from next week. I need to find tools to manage my anxiety.

Short rebuttal needed for people who claim "I don't have to wear a mask because it's a free country." I know philosophically that freedom doesn't extend to everything, but quick, precise rebuttals to that person would be nice, Particularly ones that don't incite anger.

In Zoom, is there a way to organize participants so that they are in the same order on everyone's screen in gallery view? I'm playing with a video idea with some of my students, and someone mentioned that there was a way to make it so that everyone is in the same order on everyone's screen, so that we could "pass" a book around. (We could pre-film and just cut together, but I'd rather do it more live if that's possible!) Is this a thing that can be done? I haven't had any luck figuring it out or finding it online anywhere. Halp!

My current phone is not smart. It has a little keyboard. It's great. It works. It's not so functional that I spend all my time using the phone. I love it. But 3g is going away. What is the equivalent 4g or 5g compatible cell phone?

My client applied for an received a PPP loan. They claim their accountant advised them it’d be best to add me as an employee to their payroll during the 8 week period to help ensure they get total forgiveness for the loan. This sounds totally sketchy and I plan on saying no to this scheme, but I don’t know how to explain why.

If you need to have close contact with Person A who lives with Person B, and Person B has had a one time extended visit with Person's B's parents (with no known symptoms or positive test), how long would you wait to have close contact with Person A, assuming no other close contacts with others?

I have multiple tumblr blogs. When I am logged in and enter the full URL for most of them, I see the page as any visitor should, with the option of going to my dashboard using the 'home' button at top right. Weirdly, one particular URL automatically redirects me to my dashboard.

Twitter has announced it is shutting down its "Legacy Version" on June 1, 2020. I use the legacy version to get the functionality of Legacy Twitter that allows you to have a window open with a Twitter page up, and when a new Tweet happens, a "(1)" shows in the browser tab. How can I get that functionality? The solution needs to work in Chrome & Firefox, and whether I have a twitter account or not. I want to be able to open 3 or 4 or however many tabs with twitter accounts I'm waiting for an update from, and see a notification in the tab header that there's a new tweet.

Years ago I read a science fiction story or novel that I'd like to find again. Time travel was a major aspect, and a lot of the setting was neolithic Beaker culture in Europe. I'm sorry, that's all I've got.

My blessed, blessed GP has prescribed me a muscle relaxant and an NSAID and an opiate for a shoulder in spasm. To my surprise, I can take the Valium 3x a day, the codeine 4x a day, but the Etoricoxib only once per day.

It’s been gnawing at me for some time, this fading memory of a quirky, silly song about one man’s obsession with his Rubik’s cube. The male voice is monotone but a screeching female voice cuts in periodically with “put down that cube!” I don’t remember enough of the other lyrics. If it helps, I was in Bradenton, Florida and the local radio station played it often. I’d love to hear it again and share with others.

I've been in Chicago for over two years and never had a pizza I loved. This feels like a good day to rectify that. I'm vegetarian and I don't appreciate spicy or overly sweet pizza. Can you help me order something amazing to be delivered to me around Lincoln Park/Bucktown that: has wonderful broccoli/mushrooms/cheese/crust; isn't overly deep-dish; uses a great tomato-based sauce that isn't spicy?

A few years ago there was a fairly popular sex education website written for a mostly female audience, made to help women understand a large variety of sexual topics, breaking them down into beginner friendly terms. I cannot remember what this website was called, or if it still exists.

Can anyone recommend a video that touches on the main points - where it came from, how far it’s spread, that a lot of people have died, how dangerous it is, that seniors are extra vulnerable? Ideally from the BBC, CBC (or other well-known Canadian network), CNN, ABC, or NBC. Nitty gritty not needed, neither hygiene advice. Just something from an authoritative source to get the message across that it’s dangerous to go outside.

As a result of Quarantine and the uncertainty and anxiety surrounding it, my father has asked me to loan him a firearm. He says that everything in the past few months has left him feeling unprepared and vulnerable. I'm not sure how to feel about that and would appreciate any insight or suggestions you might have, especially if you've been in a similar situation.

What are your recommendations for songs by women, for women, celebrating girlhood? Country music is my favorite, but all things sisterhood will work. Old standards, coming-of-age, DTMF ballads, looking back on a life well-lived. Girls are doing it for themselves.
