Advice on seeing the eclipse for Toronto-based person

I asked a very similar question yesterday, but want to broaden and follow-up today. I live in Toronto. I’d like to see the April 8 eclipse with my kid, in a place where we can see the total eclipse. What are good ways to do that, what should I know, what should I consider? [more inside]

Should I anticipate bad traffic in Ontario on the day of the eclipse?

I live in Toronto. We are not quite in the path of the April 8 full eclipse. I'd like to drive somewhere to see the full eclipse. Is traffic likely to be very intense in/out of the city that day around that time? (ie - substantially more than normal because of other eclipse-seekers?) [more inside]

Searching for proof of homeless relocation programs?

Anti-homeless folks like to cite that other muncipalities like to bus their homeless to other muncipalities, but unless my search skills are failing me, I can find no concrete proof of this. How could I find proof that this is happening instead of hearsay? [more inside]

Reduce my anxiety with hopefully unnecessary tips for being homeless?

Gold Coast Australia. I'm waiting anxiously to find out if my rent has gone up again because my income has gone down, and too big a rent increase and I either have to move to an extremely rural part of the Australia somewhere else far away from my medical team (various mental health issues, PTSD, aphasia, regular lung CTs, regular colonoscopies, arthritis) or get a tent because I will be homeless. Thanks. I hope not to need your advice. [more inside]

Returning to Canada: Form BSF 186

My family of 3 (all Canadian citizens, living in the US for ~ 10 years) is moving back to Canada this spring. We're finding ourselves a bit perplexed/paralyzed by the "Personal Effects Accounting Document" that we will present at the border in order to import all our household goods/furniture/stuff. Three part trivia brain teasers

I just participated in a night of trivia in which one of the rounds had clues like these examples: "A telepathic superhero played by Patrick Stewert indicating where the treasure is buried on a map, a small amount of Earl Gray" and "A hot chocolate brand, an unmarried Clue suspect wedded to Colin Jost" the answers being "Professor X marks the spot of tea" and "Swiss Miss Scarlet Johansson" respectively. What is the name of such brain teasers, and where can I find more? I loved it!

What to ask your elderly parents about what's next

In a previous question I mentioned needing to talk to my elderly parents about longterm planning and user basalganglia said it was "probably a whole 'nother question in itself". So this is that whole 'nother question. What questions should I be asking my aging parents about their next steps? Assume I know absolutely nothing about aging, retirement, long-term care, and so on. Watchmen: the Annotations. Which are better?

I've just noticed DC released a deluxe version of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' Watchmen, with annotations by Leslie S. Klinger. How do these annotations compare with those by Doug Atkinson, which have been available online since 1995?

Chewing gum that doesn’t stick to dental work

I regularly chew Freedent gum. I use only Freedent gum, because it doesn’t stick to dental work. In the last couple of months, if has become increasingly harder to find. Today, I haven’t found it anywhere local. My spouse did find Freedent and something similar to order online, but at outrageous prices, such as 50 cents to $1 for each piece. [more inside]

What are the advantages of learning disorders?

After a workshop on helping your child with executive function, and going through a very depressingly long list of all the deficits associated with dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADH, autism, and the rest of the alphabet of neurodivergence - I want to know what are the benefits? Searching for this gives vague 'creativity! diversity' answers.

Public "Safety" Push from Landlord

Our apartment management is encouraging tenants to complain about visible homelessness in our neighborhood. This all feels wrong and terrible (because it feels like they're trying to get us to push local government to get the local unhoused folks out of sight, without caring about whether they actually get help) but also pushing back feels like it could endanger my tenancy. What do I do? [more inside]
