Shelving in NYC?

Floating shelves: Where in NYC? I'm looking for 2 floating shelves 2ft long by 6 inches deep, in NYC, and I'm stumped. Ikea's are too long, West Elm doesn't have them, where else to look? The cheaper, the better.

Look into whether you can shorten Ikea's shelves. This will likely mean buying (or borrowing) a saw and some stick-on edge finishing tape from a hardware or building supply store.

Try Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, or Linens n Things.

That make one link might not work for anything heavier than Disney figuries.

I can tell you now that you won't be able to shorten a Lack shelf from Ikea to 22". They are hollow core, and the mounting hardware itself is maybe longer than 22".

Ikea has frosted/type glass ones that are around 24" if memory serves. Look good, work fine

Even if that make one link doesn't exactly work, the concept still holds. Try this one instead.

Even if you don't want to use a book, the basic idea works. Put L bracket under wood you want to use as a shelf, put on wall, put stuff on shelf.

Depending on how much wood you need, you could get it for free at Lowe's or Home Depot. Just ask for scraps. It's good wood that they cut off of something else.

Response by poster: Thanks for all of the help. I finally found them at Home Depot, cheaper than a lot of the other stores.
