I want a real or very good fake tortoise shell evening bag - help me find one

I have looked into renting one at bag buy or steal but if I can find one to buy I would.
Ebay has let me down thus far...
Has anyone spotted one lately? Preferably less than $100
I prefer it to be a clutche but I'll take one with a chain as well.

Here's a tortoise-pattern bakelite clutch from Ebay.

Response by poster: yeah as I said I tried ebay - that's not quite what I want. I'd prefer it to be a true brown tortoise shell.

Yes, I read your comment about Ebay. Thought this might be newly posted.

A real tortoise shell evening bag (most likely going to be vintage) is going to cost a lot more than $100. A good fake will probably cost a lot too, lest it look too plasticky. That being said, the only place I've ever seen them for less than retail is at the thrift shops on the Upper East Side of New York City, like Spence Chapin.

How about this?

This one on Ebay is dark brown but not a clutch and over $100.

Again, not a clutch, but under $100.

Patent, but tortoise look. And it's a clutch with a chain.

Response by poster: yup yup -- i've seen these too. google ebay and etsy have all failed me. I guess I will take the thrift store suggestion in stride (i'm in dc which is not great thrift pickings)

I feel your pain. I am always searching thrift stores for old tortoise shell clips for my hair. They are hard to find and $$.
