Euro 2008 Final Frustration

I love Football (Soccer) and greatly enjoyed the Euro 2008 tournament. Due to circumstances that I will describe inside, I missed the final. Now, I am searching for highlights of the match and all I am finding is photo slide shows without any video. Where can I see a video highlight package of the match? (I don’t get ESPN 360 and am blocked when I attempt to watch the European packages.)

I TIVO’d the match and planned on watching the final on Monday when I got back into town. I was actually visiting Las Vegas and carefully avoided all the sports screens in the casinos on Sunday. Then on the drive home, I thought I was safe listening to some pop radio station. The DJ then said, “Today is a good day, unless you are a fan of German Soccer”. Arrghh! I made it through Vegas, avoiding all news sources and get the spoil on a pop radio station. What are the odds?

Then, it got worse, when I got home, I discovered my cable had been down and the match was not TIVO’d. Well, I had missed all the news coverage and missed all the recaps. Please help me find a few minute or longer package of the game. Also, feel free letting me know what you thought of the match. Did I miss a good one or was it a sleeper?

Thanks!

I thought Germany was well outclassed and that it was no classic. That said, plenty of torrent sites have strongly seeded copies of the game in full, if you wanted to judge for yourself...

Best answer: I usually use footytube.com to find highlights. There's plenty on there, so you should be able to find one that fills the void.

As usual here in Australia, it's on at a ridiculous hour, so i didn't see much more than the highlights myself.

Good luck!

Wasn't the best game of the tournament, but it was still better than most tournaments' championship games, which all too easily turn into goalless slogs as the teams don't want to concede a goal before taking it to penalties. That said, though, Spain really wasn't challenged at all after the first 10 mins of the match. Casillas looked bored most of the second half. It's worth seeing the goal, as it was good one, but if you don't see the rest of the match I wouldn't lose a lot of sleep over it.

There's also Sopcast, for streaming from overseas broadcasters.

Jump on the torrent sites or eMule.

Response by poster: Wow, what happened to Lamb on that goal? It looked like he had the position to defend.

In general, torrent sites can be wonderful sources of matches not show where[ver] you may live. As befits torrents, the more popular team, and/or larger the game (Euro,WC, etc), the better seeded. But still, a wonderful resource.

I thought so too, Greg, and I don't know. Lahm was playing a bit more forward and participated in the German attack during the first 15 minutes, so maybe he was just too exhausted to match Torres' speed. He got subbed out at halftime.

I think a lot of credit needs to go to Torres on that one as well. He had very little space and only a very short amount of time to take the shot, and still he made the German defense look like a bunch of idiots for letting that ball in so easily.

I actually found that the espn360 site was very good through the tournament. They will have it.

Watch the game it was better than the previous comments make it out to be. Spain look good for the next 6 years; young attacking team.. Spain vs Argentina ( Final ) in South Africa 2010 ( if they can finish building the stadiums )

Great tournament and enjoyable final.

Spain didn't play Alonso enough in my opinion. God I love that guy and his passes (and goals from his own half).

Response by poster: Unfortunately, stuartmm, ESPN360 is not available through all Internet providers. It's an odd, and I think unique site, that requires the ISP to either install software and/or host content on their servers so that the streams do not come from ESPN servers.

At least, that is how I believe it works. Someone else can probably explain it better. I have used it when travelling and really like it.
