Obamamania, in person

How would I go about attending a political fund-raiser? I'd like to attend one of those $1,000-a-plate political dinners that I keep hearing about. How do I get an invite?

I'm a fan of one of the presidential candidates. (Okay, it's Obama.) I'd like to donate to his campaign. Maybe a few hundred dollars. Maybe more. Rather than just cyber-transfer this money to the campaign via the website, I'd like to attend one of those $1,000-a-place fund-raisers that I keep hearing about. How do I get invited to one?

When do the invitations go out? Is it one of those things where you have to know somebody who knows somebody? How do I get introduced to somebody?

Best answer: Call the campaign. They'll be happy to send you an invite for a promise of $1,000.

Alternatively, you can call the chair of your county or state party who can probably give you the right person to talk to.

Does the $1000 a plate dinner usually get you a photo with the candidate?

Call your state level Obama office.

Pants! is right.

If you call your local board of elections they should be able to give you contact info to your county chairman, at least. He or she will be able to direct you from there-either to the state party people or the campaign folks.
