iTunes' short attention span

How can I get iTunes to remember that I always want to manage my music and videos manually? Every time I plug my iPod nano 3g into the computer I have to check again the box for "Manually manage music and videos" and then OK the warning that I will have to manually eject the iPod. Can I bypass this routine somehow? Extra credit: How well does Sharepod work with the nano 3G's? iTunes up to date, iPod in disk mode, Windows XP

on my Ipod(160gb 5th gen i think) it stays in manual mode whenever i connect it. I did make the change to manually manage it on my work computer, not my home computer to which it is bound. perhaps if you try connecting it to another machine and changing the setting there it will stick.

Have you tried 'restoring' your ipod? This is the equivalent of reinstalling windows.

If you do this and this doesn't help, I'd think something is wrong with your registry, as it's not storing the information about your ipod correctly, and I'd suggest some registry verification/repair.
