Hotels in Vienna

Suggested hotels in Vienna, Austria? Must be in the Ring, possibly hip/funky, not more than 125 euros/night. Prefer character over blandness, but definitely not looking for a hostel sort of experience.

If you're willing to go just a bit outside the ring, I personally recommend the Pension Corvinus (http://www.corvinus.at/En/indexEn.htm). I was in Vienna for a conference this past May and stayed there. Their rates are extremely reasonable, the complimentary breakfast is great, and the family that runs it goes out of their way to make you feel at home.

Other (slightly pricier) hotels that colleagues stayed at during the conference were the Hotel Post and the Wandl. Both are inside the ring and I think both would fall just under your 125 Euro limit as well.

The Hotel Arenberg Best Western was a surprisingly nice place to stay, right on a bustling part of the Ringstrasse (Stubenring 2). For about 125 Euros, you get a private bathroom, AC, and breakfast. You're also about a 5 minute walk from a big shopping district, St. Stephan's and the Stadtpark. There's a tram-stop right across the street, so getting around is really convenient. If net access is important, the hotel provides some, but the internet cafe 10 minutes away is alot cheaper.

Here's a brief description of the hotel.

I'm sure this is way too late, but maybe it'll help someone else. Usually more around 150 euro/night, the Le Meridien - Wien was awesome. I don't take to chain types usually, but this was phenomonal. Beautiful lighting, spacious rooms, flat TVs built into the walls, superb showers, and quirky (in a good way) decoration. Right at Opernring, 2 minutes from the subway.
