How can I find a list of compatible audio cards for Dell Dimension 9100? I'd like to upgrade to a top of a line one for this machine since I am a home-studio musician and the C-Media mixer I currently have is full of static and sucks real bad. Thank you in advance!

Best answer: You really don't have to worry about compatibility. Whether your choice is USB or PCI based, you'll have the right kind of slot in your computer to plug it into, install the drivers, and go.

You may also wish to try Asio4All with your current soundcard.

It works with most built-in soundcards, and proves the quality of the recording a suprising amount in my experience.

Obviously it doesn't add more inputs or anything, but for free it might be worth giving a go?

If you have Vista, you might want to investigate whether the sound card's drivers are compatible. If you have XP though, things will probably work fine.
