Tips for a 'City Chase' first timer?

Anyone have any tips for a City Chase first timer? I just found out about it this morning, so I'm pretty clueless (and it's in two days).

I did the Chase the first year it happened in Halifax. Here are a few things we did:

- Get a friend to act as your "support team" - We had a friend sitting at home in front of a web browser who we could phone for help with trivia questions, directions, etc., if we got stuck.

- The year we did it, they started out with a mini scavenger hunt for some random stuff (e.g. yesterday's paper, a coin from a specific year, etc.) read the race reports from other locations and see what sort of things they included in this hunt, and try to bring some of it with you to the race.

- Carry a bit of cash in your pocket

- Know the transit system like the back of your hand, and have Translink's info line on speed dial on your cell phone

I've never done City Chase, but I've helped organize similar events on a much smaller scale. Participants have been especially thankful for (or regretful that they forgot):

- sunscreen
- lip balm
- water bottle
- cell phone, with potentially useful numbers programmed in
- transit map(s)
- seriously comfortable, broken-in shoes

Don't be afraid to take a couple minutes at the beginning to come up with a game plan. That time you spend figuring out a good route will be made up when you're not zig-zagging haphazardly back and forth across the city.
