Any recommendations for a place to take my mom & sis for Mother's Day brunch? Location: Orange County, CA; desired: good view from the table and quality food.

There are several really fantastic restaurants in Newport Beach that would be perfect for this. If price is no obstacle and you like seafood, I recommend both the Rusty Pelican or The Cannery (warning: terrible website!). Both are situated along Newport Bay (which is brimming with sailboats during the day), and both feature big windows upon which to enjoy your surroundings.

Las Brisas in Laguna Beach will be packed. The service will be average. The food will be quite good. The view and the nice walk you'll take afterward will be amazing.

Best answer: I know some people think it is overrated, and more flash than substance but if HB isn't too far, there's Savannah on the Beach (used to be Chimayo.) 'Course, YMMV: the women in my family are overly obsessed with ocean views to accompany their brunches.

Be sure to make those reservations, now.

Seconding Las Brisas in Laguna Beach. Or, if you want something really high-end in a traditional pub sort of way, Five Crowns in Corona Del Mar.
