web site design firm recommendation?

hi there. A friend of mine like to have a website created for his business. As someone more technical than he, he's asked me to help him find someone.

He owns a Jewish funeral home. The site would be mostly informational, with two exceptions.

The first non-standard item would be the integration of the Memory Book product offered by FuneralNet (http://funeralnet.sharedbook.com/pilot/enterBook.do?bookId=FuneralNet_2007). This is a print on-demand service by Shared Book that has been customized by Funeral Net to create the books from obituary / guest book sources.

The second item would be integrating / linking to a streaming video service like StreamHoster or UpStreamNetworks. The new trend for funeral homes is to offer streaming video of funeral services. Ones held in the funeral home would be live. Ones at the graveside or elsewhere would be recorded then uploaded.

So, I'm looking for recommendations for web design firms geared towards small businesses that would be able to take this on.

The only updates that would happen regularly with the site would be to update the list of funerals and whatever would be associated with that.

Also, if you have any recommendations for live / pre-recorded video streaming services, I would love to hear it.

Thanks.

Todd

if it's just a straight forward info page, why not just get a package like Website Tonight from Go Daddy, that would allow you/him to easily set up and maintain for next to nothing

Well, this is a very basic (although interesting and potentially beautiful) project, so whilst I am not at all trying to be snarky, I think any web design firm or independent web designer that didn't suck out loud could do this for you with a minimal amount of fuss.

Ditto on integrating video - it depends how and to whom you wish to display it, but this is hardly an out-of-the-ordinary request in the contemporary world.

What DarlingBri said.

Hit the yellow pages, this sort of thing should be easy for most web design companies. If your budget's tight you might do better with craigslist.

We just fired two web developers found on Craigslist. Can't your friend ask other funeral home directors how they set up their web sites and get recommendations that way? Also, Google "funeral home web site design" for several companies that specialize in this.

Rent-A-Coder is your best friend for small, one-time contract gigs like this.
