Sexual problem.

Sometimes, during sex when I am wearing a condom, I have a very painful ejaculation and there is blood in my semen. It also hurts to urinate after this for several hours. Blood actually drips from my penis...

It's not every time, and it never happens without a condom.

Do I have a latex allergy?

When I was a lad, I had several surgeries to try and inflate my bladder (because I wet the bed). Could this be scar-tissue-related?

doesn't sound like an allergic reaction. i would definitely see a doctor. (unintentional) blood and pain are never good signs.

it's probably not cancer or anything horrible. your guess about the scar tissue seems as reasonable as any.

That doesn't sound at all like a latex allergy.

I think you should consult a doctor. That's what I would do if I had blood coming out of my penis.

I don't think this is (only/primarily) a sexual problem. Blood coming from your urethra means you need to talk a doctor, and probably get a referral to a urologist. I'd guess that your earlier surgery is certainly one lead to follow up on.

My ex had a similar problem and it turned out to be a prostate infection. Definitely get that checked out. He said it was very uncomfortable.

Well, don't scare the piss out of the guy. If he's young, and it sounds like he is (an older guy would know he needed to see a doc right away), it's pretty unlikely to be something horrible. But "pretty unlikely" isn't "impossible" which is why I would go to a doctor if I had blood coming out of my penis.

Doctor. Blood isn't suppose to come out of your penis.

Stop reading these answers and go see a doctor!

When consulting with the doctor, you may want / need to discuss whether you're engaging in any other behavior unique to when you use a condom. Certain forms of anal stimulation can cause blood in semen -- it might be aggravating the scar tissue in your bladder. A doctor can evaluate your medical history and other factors to provide an informed answer.

Geez, Doctors, relax. Blood happens. Also, praise Google, for it is mighty indeed:

Subject: Blood from Penis

Question
i once noticed a few drops of blood coming from my Penis after excessive masturbation. I urinated after that and it seemed to be alright. But the next time i had an errection, there were tiny dark colored long things that came with my sperm. I urinated after that a few more came out, I didn't see a doctor nor did I tell anyone. Its been a few years now, I hope it has recovered. And now I find these tiny sharp (if i press them) bits within some parts of the skin of my penis, they are more like tiny hard lumps. Could there be something wrong with me Penis?

Answer
Manoj, this type of bleeding usually comes from the prostate gland. It is
due to a tear in one of the fragile veins of the prostate. The prostate
is the organ that produces the majority of the seminal fluid in response
to sexual stimulation. When the prostate contracts at the time of
ejaculation, a vein may tear and blood mixes with the semen
(hematospermia). Red blood indicates new and dark discoloration indicates
previous bleeding. Old clots may also be mixed with the semen. Prostatic bleeding often is associated with gross
blood during urination. This typically will occur with initiation or at
the end of urination (as opposed to being throughout the entire stream).
With the latter, it is often manifest as spots of blood on the underwear
or pajamas. Irritation of the gland (prostatitis) can also cause it
to become inflamed and predisposed to bleed. Some factors leading to
inflammation include too frequent or too infrequent ejaculation, sexual
arousal without ejaculation, withdraw at the time of ejaculation,
excessive alcohol or spicy foods, prolonged sitting or bike riding, etc.
The prostate may then become secondarily infected and require antibiotic
therapy for cure. Sometimes as the prostate gradually enlarges with age,
friable veins called varices develop on its surface. These are also
prone to tearing. In such cases, Proscar is sometimes prescribed to
shrink both the prostate and the veins. If it has been several years since you have seen the bleeding, I'm sure it is healed and unlikely to be of a serious nature. Although hematospermia is not a typical sign of prostate cancer, it is advisable to check with a urologist to evaluate the condition.

From your description, I cannot be sure of the cause of the lesions in your penis although they are not related to the hematospermia. They may just represent sebaceous cyst (sweat glands) in the skin. Most lesions involving the penile skin are not serious. If you see a urologist, he will be able to examine the penis and give you a more definitive diagnosis. Good luck!

Re - Blood evident after sexual intercourse
I would be very grateful if you could help me with a small problem I experienced recently.
I am a 37yr old male 6'2' 190lbs reasonable health and diet.
After making love recently (first time for a while) I felt a small pain in what felt like the shaft of my penis. I thought nothing more of it, but on waking up in the morning, there was a large discharge of blood from inside my penis (approx 15-20ml), and more evident upon urinating. I drank a lot of water (3Litres) for the next day or two and a very small ammount of blood, what looked like a tiny clot, was evident on each urination.
This is now the third day, There is no pain in the scrotum area no major pain in the penis but still V'small amounts of blood in each urination. Have abstained from sex for the moment.
Do you think it needs to be checked, or is likely to be just a small blood vessel bursting due to blood pressure, and nothing really to worry about? Are bursting blood vessels normal or at least common?
Many thanks - MARTIN

Dear Martin thanks for your questions
Blood upon ejaculation is fairly common and is usually benign. A routine digital rectal exam to check the prostate and a routine urinalysis are needed. A PSA blood test and a urine cytology looking for cancer cells may also be needed. If the urinalysis is positive for blood after sometime from the episode a microscopic hematuria workup maybe prudent to rule out a possible bladder tumor etc.. A microscopic hematuria workup includes a IVP and cystoscopy. ( A contrast xray that outline the kidneys and a look into the bladder with a telescope.)

Again get thee to the doctor but while waiting, if you have to, save [in a zip lock] a semen sample and of course any blood you can harvest. Sounds awful but the doctor WILL need something to culture if an infection is feared.

Does your partner have any new issues related or does that person even know?

Hope you are well soon.

I'm 2nding humannaire - Although clearly an anxiety-producing symptom, cursory googling turned up several reassuringly non-life-threatening causes of hematospermia. Obviously, IANAD, and if I were you I would follow up with one asap. Better safe etc. etc.
Hope it resolves soon!

I have nothing to add besides nthing "DOCTOR NOW GOGOGO", but the shiver that I had upon reading your question was visible to my coworkers. We all wish you the best.

I've experienced this. It went away on its own. (Tested negative for all STDs a year later.) It wouldn't hurt to see a doctor.

nthing see a doctor for penis blood but also just suggesting that, even though this only happens when you wear a condom, you should probably keep wearing a condom during intercourse if you have a recent history of blood coming out of your penis.

I have had this happen to me before. I was having sex with one of those cockrings or whatever (wanted to try it out). Next thing I know I started pissing blood later that night.

I never saw a doctor and I was fine again after a few hours.

My guess is that by wearing a condom you are constricting your penis's ejaculation pathway and when you do ejaculate your forcing semen and fluid into a very tight spot most likely causing a tear on the inside of your penis thus causing you to bleed.

I wouldn't worry about it unless the symptoms persist for more then a day.

I'm so sorry! You must be scared to death, especially with all the "get to a doctor NOW" responses! But I'm going to nth that advice, if only because you will continue to wonder and worry unless someone can completely rule out anything serious.

This happened to me on and off for about a month following a little accident with my partner. She bumped into me when I was erect, wich must have caused a little scar (it wasn't a big thing, just kind of bruising the tip of my penis on her leg). I guess what I'm trying to say here is: When you go to the doctor to chek it out (because you should) there's no need to feel gloomy.
