What's going on in San Francisco this week/end?

Ok, I know there's been a bunch of San Francisco questions asked already, but they mostly seem to be food related. I'll be there this week from wednesday night to sunday morning, and am just wondering if anything cool is going on. I know to check that FunCheapSF website but any others you can suggest would be great.

We dont really want to do touristy things, but festivals, art openings, concerts etc would be great. Nothing too insanely expensive. We'll have a car for at least one, maybe two of the days.

All suggestions welcome!

For San Francisco I love Yelp. Check out their upcoming events listing, just select San Francisco.

So for example there's Carnevale King and Queen Competition, Catholic School Karaoke, Dolores Park Movie Night.

And yeah, they have great restaurant reviews too. Be sure to eat. =)

Yahoo's Upcoming also has upcoming event listing, like http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/453909/>annual comedy night from 826 Valencia, an awesome youth writing program ... and pirate-themed store.

You're inspiring me to do something more exciting than brunch and car shopping this weekend!

If you enjoy photography, the Annie Leibovitz show at the Legion of Honor is the big art exhibit in town. $15 admission. Great collage of work spanning the celebrity portraits she's famous for along with personal family photos, casual work, and raw photos of her late partner, Susan Sontag.

If you like punk rock or thrash or ska, you could check The List to see if there's something you'd like to go to. Mostly small venues, almost always less than $20 cover. I myself am likely to be at Slim's tomorrow night and then Gilman or thee Parkside on Friday. :)

An Evening of a Thousand Scowls is a comedy show happening this Saturday the 29th in the Mission district to raise money for 826 Valencia, a nonprofit tutoring center started by the writer Dave Eggers. It will be hosted by Davy Rothbart, creator of Found magazine, and the performing comics are Jonathan Coulton, Ian Edwards, Bobby Lee, Al Madrigal, and Tig Notaro.

It's too bad you're leaving Sunday morning. I just remembered - this Sunday is the St. Stupid's Day Parade. Events like this are quintessentially San Francisco.
