White macbook question. My macbook's cover has become all scratched up. Is there any way I can polish the plastic or in any way minimize the scratching?

I don't know how to fix the scratches, but you could use a MacStyle to cover them up and increase awesomeness.

I've had decent results with iCleaner on an iPod and old iBook.

And Speck makes nice, translucent plastic Macbook covers.

There are polycarbonate polishes sold for iPods that work pretty well, but you should be able to use Brasso or similar metal polishes to clean these scratches out. I can't vouch for metal polishes on plastics myself, but it supposed to be cheap and effective, and no more time consuming than stuff like iCleaner. Test on your battery or something first, and if it works go for the rest of the case.

I've removed scratches from all manner of plastics with Novus plastic polish. I suspect the iCleaner product which EL-O-ESS linked to is a rebranded (and more expensive) Novus polish.

A quick Google search shows a price of $13 for a set of heavy scratch remover, light scratch remover, and plastic polish for $13.25 from Skygeek.com.

I'm not recommending this, as I've not tried it, but maybe some sort of guitar polish? It seems kind of like the same finish. Spray on the guitar polish, then wipe the computer down with an old t-shirt. Maybe someone can say whether or not this is a good idea

Of which I have one. Caveat: the Speck cover shifts around just enough to scratch the MacBook inside. Sure, it's attractive and saves you from impact damage. But it doesn't prevent scratching.

Quick update: I had the same issue, white MacBook cover all FUBARed. After reading this, I ordered the Novus plastic polish that Perplexer recommended and just finished using it. Voila! It's not flawless but it looks pretty damn good. If I were sufficiently motivated, I believe I could get it looking nearly flawless, but I'm too lazy.
