Ulead VideoStudio Editing

Trying to make a video in Ulead VideoStudio, but am stymied on a few things. Help?

I was using Windows Movie Maker but found it too limited, so I'm using Ulead VideoStudio instead. It's good so far, but I'm stuck on a couple of things:

1. Most of my scenes involve text scrolling on screen. Problem is, as soon as the text stop scrolling, it goes into the next scene too quickly. How do I make the scene with the full text stay on screen for at least a second, instead of quickly transitioning away?

2. I've got a scene which has a list. I want each item on the list to show up one by one, building the list eventually (pretty much what Powerpoint does with bulleted lists). How do I do this in VideoStudio?

I realize that my project may be easier made in Powerpoint, since it seems more like a pseudo-slideshow, but for various reasons this has to be a video. I haven't had much success in looking for tutorials. What should I do?

Have you read the manual?

Response by poster: I got a free 30-day trial, which doesn't have a manual. Can't seem to find a Help option either, unless I'm blind...

If you want to go the cop-out way for option 1 (it's been a while since I read ULead) you can take a screencap of the final frame of that scene, and insert it as an image. For number 2 I've always created the animation in flash and then exported it as mpg, but that may not be an option for you.

Here are manuals.

With this kind of thing I've always found it easier to author it in Keynote or Powerpoint and then export as a movie. And I'm a pretty good movie editor.

It's been awhile since I've used VideoStudio, but let me see.

1) I would split the clip at the last frame, then expand that last frame to take up a second or two.

2) I would make up an image file in something like Photoshop or GIMP. Add text in layers and save each one. You can then import them into VideoStudio and specify a length for each bullet point.
