Can anyone help identify this Chinese bowl?

Real Long Shot. Soup bowl, sentimental value, I broke one, need replacement to salvage tattered pride. Bought in London Chinatown a few years ago, shop gone. Can anyone help identify/source replacement? Thanks in advance. :-) Images: Image One Image Two Image Three

That's a pretty generic bowl style--I saw something very similar if not the same in San Francisco Japantown last week.

Did you try looking in other Chinatown stores?

They're selling bowls that look like that at a store down in the Byward Market here in Ottawa! If Fairway is selling it, likely other stores of the same ilk are selling it as well.

Target presently has something very similar, in a slightly different shade: this, this, and this.

Best answer: Try these guys. They seem to have replacement pieces for everything.

Best answer: Those are really easy to get hold of... if you're in North America, you see them in most Asian supermarkets. I know you found them in Chinatown but I've seen them in a Japanese supermarket in San Diego. Try contacting either Japanese Kitchen or Japan Centre (the latter most definitely has a London location you can visit). Or, if you fancy a trip to Bristol, the Wai Yee Hong Chinese supermarket has a fair bit of crockery and I swear I saw dark dishes last time I visited. There's also a contact number on their website. You never know, you might find something you like a little bit better as you shop around.

Like that girl said, they're pretty generic in North America. I bought some small dishes like that in Boston, and I've seen them in NYC and Toronto.

I know for a fact that I bought those exact bowls from my wife at Crate and Barrel about seven years ago. They are sitting in our cupboard right now. As much as stores change their merchandise though, I'm not sure how likely it is that they still sell them. On perusing the web site, I wasn't able to find anything.

I was going to say Target also...And I thought I saw that EXACT bowl at World Market (maybe also known as Cost Plus), but the website only shows something similar in gold.

Response by poster: Oh good grief. I henceforth bow down to the all powerful, all knowing, all incredible AskMeFi. Thanks very much everyone, that's fabulous. Now I just have to work out the best way to get one from over there to over here and I'm set. Colour me flabbergasted and super grateful. :-)

If all else fails try Oriental City, 399 Edgware Road, London, NW9 0JJ
Combine it with a visit to the Food Court there, one of London's lesser known attractions.
