Looking for a small dishwasher.

My wife and I are looking for a small capacity dishwasher, the greener the better.

It's just the two of us and it takes a week or more to fill a portable and I'm pretty sure we use less water doing them by hand then in a large machine. I've found a couple countertop models online but I'm looking for personal recommendations. My wife really likes the double drawer models ($$$) if they came in a single drawer less than 18" wide.

Bosch, Miele and Neff make solid machines.

The Bosch SKT5102 Classixx looks like a good tabletop dishwasher - not sure if it's for sale in the States.

I've seen so many bad reviews of the dish drawers leaking and causing problems with electronics - do some careful research before investing the serious money into one of them.

Afraid I don't have any recommendations of smaller washers to offer, which is more to the point of your post....

Sorry I don't know the brand of this dishwasher, but in Tokyo I saw dishwashers that were a 1/4 the size of the ones we have here. So, I can confirm that double drawer models certainly exist.

I think the dishdrawers had problems with leakage when they were first introduced, but this has been resolved. We have them and they're wonderful. Fisher & Paykel is a great company to deal with if any problems should arise.

If you can fit a single dish drawer in, it's 24" wide, but only half as tall, so you could use the base for storage.

This site has a good search tool, but their prices are high. You can find better deals elsewhere.

We have Fisher & Paykel dish drawers and love them. No leakage.

On the inexpensive side of things, Danby makes an 18" model. Its sound insulation isn't great, but it does a fine job of washing dishes. Mine cost only $260 from a local wholesaler. GE also makes a reasonably priced 18" model. Miele and Bosch make much nicer units, but at three or four times the price.
