Gmail problems with Firefox

why won't Firefox auto-open a new message to send in Gmail when I click on an email address?
It used to work just fine- click and boom! I'm sending mail. Now, I just get "Loading..." forever. It's a small thing, I know, but I got spoiled by the whole 'boom' thing. I'm on a Mac with 10.4. Any suggestions anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

Best answer: Oh, in Gmail Settings > General, try switching to English (UK).

It probably has something to do with the Gmail trademark dispute in the UK.

When you switch it to English (UK) you get the older, non-broken version of Gmail... Google tests out their bleeding-edge stuff on the US market first and then rolls them out to the other languages over time.
You can achieve the same thing by leaving your language as US English and simply clicking the "Older Version" link in the top right corner of the page.

Artdrctr, Gmail Notifier stopped working after my last update too, but I switched to Google Notifier for Mac and that works.
