They have humor in London...right?

Where can I find my beloved "The Onion" in London? Just moved to London from California where I could find an Onion newspaper on almost every street corner. Short of paying the $200 a year for a subscription, does anyone know where I can find the satirical newspaper in London?

It's only available in certain cities in the U.S., so don't expect to find it on every street corner here or even in other parts of the U.S. Wikipedia claims you can find it in bookstores in the UK but doesn't say where.

Response by poster: Yeah I had a look in some of the bigger high street bookstores but to avail.

You might be able to ask a bookstore or newsagents to order it for you if as grouse says it is available, it might not be popular enough to carry stock of it, but you can normally get things like that by request.

Of course, if you want it on a regular basis, it might be cheaper just to subscribe.

Tried Borders on Oxford Street? That's got about the biggest selection of magazines.
Or the comic shops... they might have it. Forbidden Planet. Gosh.

why not just read it online?

Once upon a time, it was available in the newspaper section of Borders in Oxford Street. Talk to them and see what they say.

I know for a fact the Borders on Oxford Street has it because I buy it from there regularly. I believe they will also do it on special order for you.

I've seen it in Borders in Oxford, not just Oxford Street, so I'd guess that any branch of theirs would do.

I once bought a copy from the magazine section in the basement of Tower Records in Piccadilly Circus, which is now a Zavvi store. I'd presume the store still sells it.

Most Borders seem to have it then. I used to buy it there in Glasgow.

Is it less than 2 pounds an issue in the stores?

If you want a sort of local equivalent then Private Eye is worth checking out.

Try Waterstones. Waterstones Leeds sometimes carries this, so I assume that the London branch is the same.

Actually. I meant Borders.
And people have mentioned this already. Doh!

I've definitely seen it in the big Borders on Charing Cross Road too.

I'm going to take a wild guess that even if you do find it in London, it's going to be imported, which means the price is going to be jacked up and that's with the already horribly exchange rate. $200 for a years subscription, since that's 52 magazines, is only about $4 or 2 pounds an issue. I really doubt you'll be able to find it anywhere for that price.

Response by poster: I found it! Borders in Oxford Circus! Thanks a lot to all of you who answered, I appreciate it. And yes, it is expensive - £2 an issue.
