Php Galleries for fan sites

I work on a fan-based website for a video game series. We have a somewhat large (~15-20) group of fanartists who draw pretty pictures. We want to set up a gallery in which we can display these pictures.
I'm looking for a PHP gallery system. What can you suggest/what have you had good experiences with?

I like Coppermine, it was pretty easy to setup and runs well.

I second Gallery, which has served me well for several years now. It's got a sophisticated enough user accounts and permissions system for a group setting like you're describing.
Coppermine has always looked good to me too, and I think it has a few additional fancy features like voting. But I've never tried it.

Askphotogalleryfilter.
It's a self-link, but I think you might really love folderblog. Drag and drop the files into the photos/ directory, and your thumbnails into thumbs/. If you want to add captions, drop in text files with the same name as the image (001.jpg=>001.txt) (captioning via web interface in the next release; ETA: Tuesday). Has commenting and everything. Totally customizable. 15kb. Couldn't be simpler.

It's not php, but Fotobilder has everything I've ever wanted in a gallery and much, much more.

Third for Gallery, relatively easy to set up, and can be as simple as you want it to be.

Oooh, billybunny, I <3 you, because this is something I was thinking about for a fan site I run...and now I have more things to try out other than Coppermine!
Now, here's an add-on to the original question -- which of these is easiest to use if you want people to set up their own accounts, upload their own pictures, and then you have final approval of what goes up? I want something like eFiction, but for images.
