What is the deal with Roman's speech?

Days of Our Lives question: I watched Days of Our Lives years ago and today caught an episode for the first time in quite a while. I noticed Roman sounded as though he had a stroke or something that interfered with his speech. Has the actor had a stroke or is this something in the story line? I googled the actor but found nothing. Thanks.

Depending on how long "years ago" was, the character of Roman has been played by two different actors which might lead to different vocalizations. Also, it seems that Roman had his throat slashed at his wedding in 2003, perhaps that could be affecting his speech.

As a graduate student, I too occasionally catch an episode (it's comforting in that way that it makes you feel like you're home sick from school at grandma's house... yet no one brings me soup...). Josh Taylor (the current Roman) has, to my mind, always sounded like that, even when he was on The Hogan Family.

Response by poster: hrm maybe I'm just imagining it. It just sounds to me like he slurs his words more than he used to. Or sort of talks like his tongue is numb. I guess he's always done it but I never paid attention.

The current Roman looks like he might have had a surgical procedure done on his head or something...kind of like an eye 'lift' but not really (can't imagine he ever thought of plastic surgery). I sure hope he hasn't had a stroke, he is such a gifted actor.
