What will happen should I decide to change my Xbox Live gamertag?

Here's the deal.. I've grown to dislike my xbox live gamertag that I use for everything Xbox 360. I don't want to lose my achievements/gamerscore, reputation level, or anything else for that matter. Does anyone know that I choose to change my xbox live gamertag, will I lose everything or anything at all?

Best answer: You won't lose anything. It's just a name change.

Best answer: You'll keep everything as 0xFCAF said. However, you have to pay roughly $10 I think (something like 800 points) to do it.

I've done it, and nothing changes. Twiggy is right on the cost.

One other thing to note is that you'll keep all your friends, but they won't receive any notification of the name change. You might want to let people know that the strange new gamertag on their friends lists is you.

I did this a couple months ago, and the confusion of my friends has been the only downside.

I'll add that websites (like bungie.net, if you're a Halo junkie) that have your Windows Live ID linked to them may be unable to reconcile the new gamertag, so that might be a consideration if you're into tracking your stats or downloading things from the developer. This probably only applies to Bungie, as they're one of the few (only?) to provide that much content outside of XBL.
