Why won't Google save my preferences?

I'm in Mexico but I use the regular google.com instead of google.com.mx. I also keep telling google to "talk to me" in english, by selecting english in Preferences under "Display Google tips and messages in: ...", but, even when it tells me "[My] preferences have been saved", a few hours or searches later, it goes back to spanish.

Why won't Google save my preferences and how can I make the english option "stick"?

Response by poster: Oh, I forgot to mention, I'm on Internet Explorer, in case it matters.

That preference is a cookie. Do you have any kind of security/anonymity software which deletes cookies?

I had exactly the same problem. Go to your Firefox preferences page -> Privacy -> Search for "Google". Clear any cookies with "Google" in. Then re-sign into your account. You should be golden.

Doh. Didn't see your first comment. Same principle applies but with different Microsoft names for stuff.

Response by poster: Ok, I tried lowering the "Privacy" option from "Medium" to "Low", and I included google.com in the "Permited" sites. I'll see if this works.
