Gmail and Windows. I want to be notified when new mail comes in.

gmail: i've been using it for a few weeks now and have made it my primary e-mail repository. The only thing it lacks for me, though, is the ability to be notified (on the Windows desktop) when new mail comes in. Anyone aware of software to handle this task?
Gmail won't work out of the box with any of those notification programs on NoNags. You would need to install Pop goes the Gmail to get pop3 access to gmail, then point one of those notification programs at PGtGM.

Actually, PGtGM will do the notification itself....what falconred said.

GTray by Elias Torres is a little icon that sits in your system tray and alerts you to new gmail(checks at a user-defined interval).

"Pop goes the GMail" requires the .Net runtimes which makes it a big download. The "GTray" website doesn't seem to work either.
I'm a pretty reasonable programmer and will happily write one if someone gives me an account :)

I use FireFox as my browser with Gmail and when new mail comes in, the tab changes to Gmail - Inbox (#) when I have new messages. Just a thought.
