Video Stabilization on a Digital Camera - Same as Image Stabilization?

Will image stabilization on Digital Cameras stabilize the video recording as well? I have a Canon Elph, which does not have IS. I was looking at the Canon SD700 IS, but only if it worked for recording video too. I have an older Sony TRV-22 handicam that has steadyshot, but I find using the digital elph much more convenient. Great photos, and nice video quality too, except the obvious lack of video stabilization.

Best answer: FYI: the 700 is no longer a current model. i just had a peak at the manual (online, powershot.com) and it looks like 'continuous' IS mode is available while shooting movies. there are two other IS modes that are not. this should work for you.

I had the SD700IS for some time, and can confirm that it is indeed image-stabilized during video as splsh notes. (The other IS modes are not applicable to video). Awesome, awesome camera.

I have a Canon SD800IS in my hands and it also allows IS options to be changed in video mode.
