Is there some place you can get a poem emailed to you each day? Sort of an email-based Writer's Almanac? And that won't spam you to death? And that won't send you schmaltzy syrupy crap?

Writer's Almanac RSS Feed, which puts up the full text of the show every day.
+
SendMeRSS.com, which coverts the RSS to email.

Verse daily consistently publishes great poems, but I don't know if they are set up to email them. Definitely worth checking out every day though!

The good news is that dailylit.com sends out a page of literature every weekday, including poetry if you request it. The bad news is that the free stuff is too old to be protected by copyright.

If you like haiku, try Tinywords.

Best answer: You can get the Writer's Almanac by email everyday by subscribing to their newsletter.
They don't seem to spam me.

The Wondering Minstrels used to do that, but it doesn't look like they are still active. I subscribed for a while.

I used to do this with Daily Lit.

It's a webpage and not an email, so it doesn't entirely fit your request but copper canyon press is good for a random poem. It's definitely not sugary.

It's a webpage and not an email, so it doesn't entirely fit your request but Poetry Today has a contemporary poem day, with archives. Non-sugary.
