Identify old TV shows

Can you identify two 90's TV shows/movies?

I'm pretty sure they were both on Nickelodeon, but I can't find anything in the listings of 90's Nickelodeon shows.

The target age was similar to that for Hey Dude and Salute Your Shorts.

The first one was about a girl who could swim underwater like a fish and had psychic abilities. She could stay underwater without breathing (I think), and she swam with undulating motions. She would sort of come and go - most of the action took place in an experimental underwater colony where the people lived in metal discs connected by tubes. I think there was another girl, one who lived in the colony, and maybe a family. There were also some bad guys. I think they wanted to catch this dolphin girl and run tests on her (but I could be confusing the show with Alex Mack here). I think the two girls may have been related.

Specific scenes: I remember lots of shots of the dolphin girl swimming around in pretty blue water. There may have been an island. There was one episode when some people on the surface got the girl in for testing: A guy drew a shape on a piece of paper. Without seeing the shape, the girl replicated it on another piece of paper.

The other show (which really could have been a movie) was about a group of teens or pre-teens who could travel to another time. They traveled by means of an object that gave off lightning. This other time was sort of a medieval/renaissance time - they wandered around the woods, stumbled upon castles, and ran away from sorcerers. Or knights. Or something. There was much urgency and drama. And then they went back to their own time. I know there was a guy and a girl. I think the guy had a bowl cut.

Can you identify these, or at least commiserate with me in only barely being able to remember them?

Oh my gosh, I found this list of 90s Nick shows and it really brought me back. Pete and Pete, You Can't Do That On Television, Guts. Good times. Hope your shows are on the list.

P.S. If you care enough to join the movement to bring back old Nickelodeon shows, you can sign a petition.

Is the second one The Tomorrow People? Sorry if that's wrong, I always turned off Nick when that came on for some reason.

Was either show animated? I found a show called Spartakus and the Sun Beneath the Sea but I have no idea if that's what you're describing in the first one.

Is it at all possible that the first one was Ocean Girl? Wikipedia says it was broadcast on the Disney Channel in the US.

That first one certainly sounds like a dead ringer for Ocean Girl.

Ocean Girl, definitely. I remember it, came on around the same time as Anne of Avonlea.

I definately remember the first one (it was Ocean Odessy in the UK)
A bunch of kids lived on a kind of sci-fi space colony (except it was in the sea instead of space - I tihnk they were the children of marine biologists studying the whales) and Neri was an alien and she lived on the island... and there was a whale she could talk to or something.

I think I remember an episode where Neri finds out she has a sister and that she's not really alone after all.

Response by poster: Do you remember if they had Australian accents?

YES.

Yes, those are the shows: Ocean Girl and Spellbinder. Thank you - I love you all. Now I just have to figure out how to obtain them.
