Do the Shake - The Shimmy Shimmy Shake

Daisuke filter - Not having watched the Boston Red Sox much, I am entertained by Dice-K's "shimmy shimmy shake". But he doesn't do it all the time. My best guess is that he only does it without runners on base. Is there some other pattern I am not seeing?

I believe he always does this when pitching from the windup and not when pitching from the stretch (which is what he'd do with runners on base).

What null said. It's his "windup" motion, not his stretch motion. 100% of the time.

As to what he's winding up.... that's another question.

Some pitchers also wind up with the bases loaded as there is no threat of a steal. I haven't noticed if he does that or not.
