Which is the safest keyboard logger to install that is known not to send the logs to a third-party?

I need to install a keyboard logger on my machine for my own use. But I am worried that the keyboard logger may itself be a trojan that sends information to another computer over the net, which I dont want.

Which one do you recommend? Of course, it should have stealth settings.

I have tried a few, but the moment I run them, my own anti-virus program catches them and reports them as trojans. And I dont want to disable my anti virus .

How about a hardware solution? Like http://www.keyghost.com/ or one of their competitors?

Tell your antivirus to exclude the folder it installs in.

Google for an app called Wireshark. You'll probably need to read some documentation to understand what its doing. Or you can set your firewall to disallow the sniffer access to the net.

Response by poster: I dont want to install a hardware solution. I will look into Wireshark and get back to you.

Meanwhile any other software keyboard logger that is known to be free from viruses, etc.?

Any free keyboard logger?

Your antivirus isn't being tripped up because these keyloggers contain viruses and/or trojans--it is being tripped up because they are keyloggers. This is by design. damn dirty ape is right--just get it from a reputable source and tell your antivir to exclude it. Install a firewall if you're super paranoid.

Please recommend some more reputable sources. Wireshark is one as recommended by damn dirty ape. Any others ?

Response by poster: But wireshark seems to be a network protocol analyzer.
Ok I think "damn dirty ape" is recommending that to analyze the data sent by the keylogger if any.

But I need to know which software keylogger to install in the first place !

Can you recommend some reputed ones ?
