Tofu recipe?

Recipe for stuffed tofu at New York City deli/steamtable/buffet by the pound places.

Does anyone have a recipe for those yummy tofu "sandwiches" you find at NYC delis? I think there's something like red bell pepper and green onions, but what's in there and what is the sauce?
Thanks!

I know exactly the dish you mean! Ithink it' so weird that so many steamtables have that as a staple, it must be a catering thing.

Anyway, based on the taste, I think it is mostly soysauce with a little hit of rice wine vinegar and sugar. Maybe a little watered down, even, as it is not overpoweringly salty or sour.

The tofu is just raw, with lot of water squeezed out. I bet some trial and error toying around with soysauce, vinegar, sugar and water would get a decent approximation.

If it's what I'm thinking of, there's also some sesame oil in there, maybe even some sesame seeds. Mmm.

Yeah! A bit of sesame oil as well. Oh man, that stuff is good.
