How do I change a cartridge on my konica minolta magicolor 2430DL? I have changed yellow and magenta and now the new ink cartridges register as totally empty. What am I doing wrong? HELP!

Did you use Minolta brand cartridges?
I have no experience with Minolta, but I know my HP reports incorrect ink levels if I use store-brand cartridges.

Second Thorzdad. It's probably nothing you did wrong. These guys have gotten sneaky and started intalling DRM on their cartridges so that off-brand carts won't work. I suspect that this violates several anti-trust type laws, but they haven't been sued yet.

Oh, one more thing. Store-bought carts even if they are the right brand are often past their sell-by date. Carts that are past date will sometimes just not work as a way for the printer company to avoid the customer support call "my printer must be broken, I installed new cartridges and the prints are all streaky with weak color."

In point of fact, I believe HP won a DMCA-oriented suit against third-party cartridge makers. Something about them having to backward-engineer compatibility and, thus, violating copyright/intellectual property/etc. I know Staples had to stop selling their own brand of HP-compatible cartridges. At least MY Staples stopped carrying them (and that was the implied reason)
