Help Me Find My Perfect Journal, Please

Howdy Hive- Back in the 80's I used to write in journals that were made of recycled paper. I'm trying to locate them (or something similar) again, and having no luck. The paper was gray, a bit rough & raggedy, and very, very soft. It was bound as a hardcover book, with a simple stamp as a decoration (one said 'art', another said 'dream'). The only drawback was that the paper absorbed a lot of ink, so it was necessary to write in ballpoint pen (or risk draining a lot of sharpie markers). Even if it's not the exact same journal, I would love your suggestions for something similar. I haven't found another blank book yet that is as satisfying. Thanks in advance, y'all!

Grey recycled paper is harder to find these days. Now it has all been bleached and looks like regular paper.

Newsprint has a similar smooth texture and is pretty cheap. Unfortunately, it isn't archival and will crumble in about 10 years.

Response by poster: Thanks for your response! Archival isn't really an issue - I got rid of all of my old journals many years ago. I forgot about good old newsprint. I may have a bookbinding friend of mine make up a journal for a test drive. I'll continue searching...
