Lost control of motion on my Wii

Hey there,
Does anybody know what the problem is here? I can move the pointer around like normal, and the buttons work, but the motion doesn't. So if I'm playin Tennis, I can hit the button to release the ball but can't swing.

I tried resetting, unplugging, new batteries, resyncing the remote, using a diff remote, settings. Still does it..

On a diff note tennis on the wii rocks and I think it cured my depression. seriously ;)

Best answer: I've been told that a good solid whack can help a "stuck" accelerometer in a Wii remote. Just smack it into your hand a few times and see if that clears it up.

Response by poster: I just tried, that doesn't work. The motion works with the pointer, just not in the game. This is the only game I have so I don't know if it's something with the game itself.. Why can't I swing the ball?? Dammit, I wanna play.

There are two motion control components in a Wiimote: Infrared (the pointer) and Accelerometer (detects fast motion and orientation). Sounds like you have a busted accelerometer, and a good excuse to pick up Wii Play (with Wiimote).

Did it used to work and stop? Or has it never worked with that game?

If it's the latter, I suggest reading the manual to find out whether the motion you're trying to make isn't supported by the game.

using a diff remote...

Wait, you've tried it with a different remote? You own more than one and both don't work?

using a diff remote

Hmm. just noticed that in the more inside too. Are you sure it is still a problem with other remotes? I think if that is true, perhaps there is in fact a problem with your console. Try taking your Wiimote to a EB games or GameStop or similar and see if they'll let you sync it to their demo model. This will reveal if it is a problem with the remote or the console itself.

If no remotes work, there's something wrong with the console itself. At that point, a call to Nintendo is needed.

They are good about repairs, and your unit is still in warranty I believe (1 year). They can send you a box and you can send the unit in that, or you can ship the whole thing to them. Just give them a call and describe the problem. (I just had mine repaired, it would not read game discs any more)

Response by poster: Ok I just tried wacking it again, and now it works. So now I'm wondering if this will happen again??

Thanks for the tip though.. I was trying to get the second remote to act as the #1 position, but I can't figure out how to make it act as the primary.

Response by poster: (But I would suggest not using your hand.. I had to whack it pretty hard against my foot stool)

To reassign Wii remote player order, press the Home Button on the remote, then click the "Wii Remote Settings" at the bottom of the screen. It will as you to press 1 and 2 simultaneously on each remote in the order you want them to be in. So press 1+2 on the desired first player remote, then press them on the desired second player, and so on. Press A to exit the menu.

Also: hidden Wii remote tip. When the system is turned off, press any button on the controllers. The numbers of lights that blink show the amount of battery left.

Sorry, wont post again, but I realized my instructions are missing a step.

To reassign Wii remote player order, press the Home Button on the remote, then click the "Wii Remote Settings" at the bottom of the screen. Click the Reconnect button. It will as you to press 1 and 2 simultaneously on each remote in the order you want them to be in. So press 1+2 on the desired first player remote, then press them on the desired second player, and so on. Press A to exit the menu.
