I need to pass a macro/micro economics placement test. Though I took both of these courses during my undergrad, the information has left me. Which book (or books?) would be best help me demonstrate minimal proficiency in only a month or two of self-study?
Best answer: Here are the free chapters. Look under "companion website".
The excercises at the end of each chapter should help you. Good luck!

Best answer: When in a similar situation (for another topic, though), I looked around at websites for courses on the topic at reputable universities in the relevant field. Lots of professors are making websites for their courses (a ton at MIT are available through Open Courseware) so you can get an idea of what the students are advised to read, as well as lecture notes, pdfs of slides, sometimes even audio, etc.

Best answer: Berkeley microeconomics course, the podcast.
Berkeley macroeconomics course, the podcast.
I know they're not books, but if you have an iPod and a decent commute, you can get through weeks of information on the bus.
