On the recent video beheading of Berg, does anyone know the significance of that orange gown he is/was wearing?

They said it was a prison inmate uniform.

I haven't seen any images of high enough quality to make this statement as fact, but the orange suit he's wearing sort of look like women's pajamas. On some of the stills there appears to be embroidery around the neck line.

The more important question is, why are you analyzing this?

Response by poster: It caught my curiosity. I don't know enough about Islam to know if an orange robe/gown has a special significance, or if it was just a prison uniform from Abu Gharib, or whatever. It is not an analyzation (in my opinion), just wanted to know if anyone here had prime knowledge on it.

The more important question is, why are you analyzing this?

why not? you gonna send the black helichoppers after me?

No, just couldn't understand why it was at all important, and it certainly didn't seem like a great topic for AskMe, that's all.

Main Entry: an·a·lyze
Pronunciation: 'a-n&l-"Iz
Function: transitive verb
Inflected Form(s): -lyzed; -lyz·ing
Etymology: probably irregular from analysis
1 : to study or determine the nature and relationship of the parts of by analysis

Seems like you were analyzing the video of the beheading, at any rate.

I'll go straight out and say that the entire event such as it was portrayed was completely unislamic and has no basis in the scriptures/religion. Seems odd if it was a prison uniform in abu gharib - mind you, most of the prisoner shots we've seen from there are lacking in clothing..

Response by poster: I had watched the Ogrish vid during a break. The orange gown caught my eye and for some reason a scene in The Seige (remember that gawd awful movie with Bruce Willis?) popped in my head. The scene where Anette Benning is in some kind of room with that guy who is all dressed in white and it has some Big Significance becuase the gown is white and it turns out that TaaDaa! he was the mastermind afterall and Denzel saves the day.

I wasn't aware that AskMe had to pass AgregoliFilter first. But seriously, your self-appointed judgement matters to me. Really. It does. I lose soooo much sleep at night worrying that your analysis of my post to AskMe might not be all it can be.

Most of the information on the net is tied to the 'conspiracy thoery' aspect of it now. MetaFilter has a wide membership and an even wider knowledge base. After searching on my own, I posted it here. Seemed resonable to conclude that someone would know if, indeed, there was anything significant about it at all.

Response by poster: note: Ask MetaFilter is as useful as you make it. Please limit comments to answers or help in finding an answer. Wisecracks don't help people find answers. Thanks.

My apologies to agregoli.
