Is there an easy way to manage extensive amounts of .eps & .ai files (Adobe Illustrator) into a .pdf catalog format? I often buy vector pack cds that come with vast amounts of eps/ai files but there is almost always a single .pdf file that has a catalog of all the files in one for easy browsing. Is there a tool that does this automatically?

Best answer: For the eps files, you could make a contact sheet in Photoshop and save that as a PDF (file > automate > contact sheet). Since you can't open ai files in Photoshop, you'd have to convert those first.

You would have to go thru the trouble of placing the .ai files into photoshop (I think), but once done, you could make a PDF from there. I think it's File->Automate->PDF Presentation. To place you just do File->Place (at least on CS2). It comes in as a vector object or some such.
