where can i download a proper dvd player for my pc ?
i've reinstalled windows media player and it says i have to pay money to decrypt my dvd , this is stunning news as it never said this in the last version , so please help me screw these guys over and watch a movie.

Or download Media Player Classic -- a media player clone of 6.4 that's streamlined and supports, well, just about everything. DVD, TV-cards, all the codecs and filters... It's k-rad. Git it.

Here is a direct link to to the VLC (VideoLAN Client) mentioned my twine42. It's just slightly clunky as far as the UI goes, but it will play pretty much everything you throw at it, including original DVDs.

Will media player classic work on WinXP? The page doesn't list that operating system among the options, but was wondering if it still might.

Yes, it works fine in XP. There are two compiled binaries -- one for 98/ME, one for 2k/XP. The entire program is one executable file... about 1.1 megs in size.

whatever you do though, don't install the quicktime replacement in media player classic if you use itunes. found that one out the hard way.
