Where can I learn to sew in Washington, DC?
I'm about to move to DC and would like to find a sewing class for beginners in the District. I've searched the web and metafilter but haven't turned up anything helpful. Does anyone have any recommendations?

G Street is AMAZING, it makes me jealous. If they don't have an intro class I bet they can point you in the proper direction.
Also, this is the second sewing-class question in a couple days. As a sewing fiend that makes me so happy. I remember when friends would say "you made that? what are you, amish?" years ago. And now sewing is the cool new thing, apparently.

If you're looking for some sewing-geek friends, check out www.flyingbobbin.com . We're the DC chapter of the ASG.
G Street will definitely be able to help you. Next month the Original Sewing Expo is in Chantilly Va -- they have tons of courses too. A bit of hike is Baltimore City Community College (pdf) -- they're the only local school I've found with a fashion design/tailoring program.
