Want to buy a dark gray/charcoal women's tee

Where can I buy a plain women's charcoal/dark gray heather tee (short- or long-sleeved)?

I can't seem to find these anywhere on sale online. I don't seem to have trouble finding light gray heather tees, but dark gray is proving to be elusive. Can any of you help?

American Apparel sells a variety of styles of plain t-shirts in loads of colors--about $15 each. It looks like slate or charcoal might be what you're looking for, but there are several shades. Or this.

My default for this sort of thing is Gap or Old Navy, but it looks like they're rocking the black/light grey/white spectrum this season. Suck.

The American Apparel shirts aren't really heather like the OP wants, though.

I have a charcoal heather t-shirt that I got from Urban Outfitters a few years ago (like you, I scour around for that color). The brand on it is "Charlotte". (I'm trying to find it online, but Good Charlotte band t-shirts are mucking things up.)

Target, at one point, had multi-packs of men's t-shirts (Merona brand, I think), one of which was a nice dark grey, soft, thin fabric, and they were cut with a slim fit, so they were flattering for women too.

American apparel's asphalt looks like it could be similar to charcoal.

you might try jcrew, lands end, and llbean. those are my go-tos for plain jersey tees (refined enough to wear to work).

It's a men's shirt, but might this work?

Have you tried Hanes.com? They have a wide selection of t-shirt styles and colors.

I tried to find one for you, but my work webfilter keeps blocking the pages.

Alternative Apparel? Kinda silly-expensive, though.

There's also a long-sleeved one at Urban Outfitters.

This short-sleeve shirt comes in "deep heather." This is the same color, with black cap sleeves. Dark heather short-sleeved heavyweight tee.

Some arts and crafts-type stores sell t-shirts in various colors (for arts-and-crafty-type purposes, I suppose) and I've found at least at one of them (A.C. Moore, I think) plain light grey and dark grey short- and long-sleeved t-shirts. (It is rather hard to find completely plain monocolor grey t-shirts.) They're 50%/50% cotton/polyester and fairly inexpensive; as far as I know they don't associate them with a particular sex.

A.C. Moore lists them on this page. You can't view the different colors there but the dark grey/charcoal probably would satisfy your expectations.

I have a charcoal heather tee from Banana Republic. Their web site doesn't show tees but the stores usually carry them. Eddie Bauer has a heather gray t-shirt but I can't tell if that would be too light for you.

I got a nice charcoal heather t-shirt from target a few months ago. It was Mossimo Black brand and it fits so nicely. I'm not seeing the exact one on their website right now, but I bet they still have them in the store.

I love American Apparel but their Asphalt color is solid, not healthered.

Gap's favorite tee sometimes comes in dark gray heather, but it looks like they're not offering it right now.

I would second the Eddie Bauer rec - the "heather ash" color is a nice, dark heathered gray.

Bella is like American Apparel without the creepy marketing; their short sleeve/crew neck/baby rib t-shirt comes in a colour called "dark heather" that might fit the bill.

if you live in canada, check out a smart set.

they have a terribly user-unfriendly website which is not worth linking (smartset.ca, if you want to be tortured by meaningless flash animation), but they do make quality cotton/spandex t-shirts of varying collar shapes and sleeve lengths, in different colours every season. fall would be a great time to get one in charcoal grey.

on preview, i just noticed you said "gray" though, so i guess you're in the US. sorry.

Response by poster: Thank you for all the suggestions on my first-ever AskMeFi post.

I realize that I should have been a lot more specific. I should have stated that:
- I am in the US and in Seattle, specifically. (I apologize for being so US-centric that I didn't even think of specifying that.)
- I am truly interested in a heather (heathered?) tee and not a solid one.
- I am looking for a slim-fit, slightly longer tee length (and not baby doll length) tee.

However, you all made some great suggestions. I do like to look online to get ideas of what I might find when I go to the brick-and-mortar stores. It sounds like I should check out some of the suggested stores (Banana Republic, Target, J Crew, etc) first to see what they have in the stores that they don't have online. If that is unsuccessful, then I'll explore some of the online suggestions.

twistofrhyme: Smart Set sounds like a great place for me to check out next time I am in BC. I'm hoping to make it up there sometime before the year's end.

Thanks, all. You are very helpful and lovely people.

I'm open to more suggestions, as well.

origami - I wonder if it might not be worthwhile to try dyeing to a charcoal shade yourself? If you can find a good light gray heather t-shirt in the right shape for you, maybe it would be possible to dye it with a little black or gray dye and have it darken, but retain that heathered look?

I buy the women's or juniors Mossimo t-shirts from Target and I have one in a dark gray heather. I love these shirts because they are fitted and contain a little bit of spandex or something stretchy, and because they are a slightly longer length. They usually have a display of them at the front of the department, right on the aisle, and they're generally around $10.

Well... how about the heathered tee in "ink" from Shade Clothing?

(I don't really want to recommend a religious site 'cause that's not my thing, but they do have good basics and I've considered buying from them.)

Ooh! Am I too late? If not... head on over to REI. I just got a great shirt from there a few days ago. Grey, heathered, slim fit.
