Help me find this old fortune telling software!

Several years ago I came across a demo for well, I guess it's fortune telling software. It was very atmospheric--water sounds, a pagoda, music. It was very pretty.I went back to this demo many times and intended on purchasing the software, but got sidetracked. Now I can't remember the name or the maker. Google hasn't helped because I have only vague search terms.

Ultimately I'd like to try to track down a copy of this, but if it's too old to run on current hardware, see if they've made further versions. Help me Hivemind!

Response by poster: It may have ottereroticist, it would make sense, since the feel of it was asian. Mostly I remember the text asking the person to sit by the water (very pretty moving water, frog sounds, splashes) and concentrate on the question. There were scrolls and candles I think. Gongs too. ARGH, I hate having that blank space in my head~

Was it for the Mac? I had some ancient software like this for the Mac, I think it was for my Mac Plus.

Response by poster: It could have been, Jessamyn. I used to have a Mac IIci a hundred years ago. I can't remember if I was haunting that site when I was fixing macs or if I'd started fixing pcs yet. I'd be interested if you could remember the name.

This is about the era of the shareware that I remember. Do any of these names look familiar? I'll keep thinking on it. If it's the one I'm thinking of, I really liked it too.

AAAACK! I know exactly what you are talking about - I had it too - it was for the mac and it was right around 1992-3. You had to ask the question, then concentrate and listen to the water and then click when the moment felt right, and up would pop something like "Pure Joy" and a description thereof. I do think the I-Ching sounds right since there were 2 symbols with horizontal lines at the end I think. Thank you for giving something to bug the hell out of me all day.

Aw, man--this is like some kind of evil brain virus! As soon as I started reading the description on the main page, I started thinking of that same old program. I clicked on "more" just hoping that someone actually remembered the name.

Now this is going to drive me crazy, too. _Thanks_.

(For some reason, words like "Serendipity" and "Tranquility" keep coming to mind as maybe being part of the title. Or was it more like "Night and Day"? Damn.)

I am hoping somebody can find it for download -- I am itching to play with it again now. (Also Dark Castle, as long as we are wandering down memory lane. Mr Selfmedicating was doing impressions of the Dark Castle sounds over lunch today when we were talking about this thread)

Best answer: I haven't found it for download, but I found this place that has it for $20. Can't vouch for them though, as I just found it on Google. I'll let you know if I find a downloadable, 'cause this does sound pretty cool. Be sure and post back if you find it too!

Couple of other finds...

This online I-Ching Thing claims to be a descendant of the original Synchronicity software.

Here's an article about the guy who wrote the software.

There's this forum post from some Mac folks asking about the Mac version of it, but I skimmed, since I'm a PC/Linux'er.

And interestingly enough, if you put the keywords "Synchronicity software decision-making" into Google, you eventually get a lot of links about CRM software solutions. Maybe my Sales VP is getting a call from beyond when he says he wants to dump everything into Salesforce...

Oh, and, incidentally, if you see the guy's company was called "Visionary Software" and decide to run those two words together and put a .com at the end, don't do it. Spam site.
