What to do in Madeira

Going to Madeira for a week on Sunday. I've Googled and found some ideas on what to do, but I'd like some further input. That's it. Simple question, so no more

My parents just got back, and they raved about the wonderful walking paths all over the island, known as Levadas. If you like walking, bring some heavy duty shoes and try them out. My parents said the views from some of them were amazing, and the natural areas you walk through showcased the wildlife on the island.

My sister went years ago and she said there were these wicker toboggans that were ridiculously fun.
