What IS she eating?!!

So, in Swimming Pool ... what in the world is that white stuff that Charlotte Rampling's character repeatedly eats? Screenshot here. No spoilers within, as long as you don't click on the YouTube link that may give away the story.

Apologies for the blurry screenshot, I captured it from this YouTube video. (Beware: The video cuts the movie down to seven minutes. Major spoiler, obviously.) Mystery food appears at around 02:20. The stuff came out of the container on the left, and she's sprinkling sugar or some class of condiment from the red-capped container.

She eats it with a spoon, so it's scoopable. My guess is sour cream, but surely no-one is physically capable of consuming wholesale amounts of sour cream? And besides, the stuff seemed too runny to be sour cream. I MUST KNOW. This thing has been bugging me for weeks!

I believe it's yoghurt.

Yeah I'm pretty sure its yoghurt. I don't know if sour cream comes in such large containers, but yoghurt sure does!

Plain yoghurt or cottage cheese. Judging from the runniness, I'd say cottage cheese.

Best answer: Definitely yoghurt - sweetened with sugar it's a popular breakfast dish in France.

Best answer: Looks like a Taillefine (a Danone brand, I think) tub. It's either yogurt or fromage blanc. That's a sweetener she's adding to it; I recognize the jar but forget the brand…off to check our pantry. It's Canderel. Yogurt can be quite runny when mixed enough. Easily demostrated by the 21 month old living in our house.

Loved that film.

Or on preview…; what Ceri said.

As long as this is up, may I ask what the hell the ending meant? soory if this journeys into spoilers, but feel free to email me your thoughts. this was one movie that was a good 'discussion' film, but i've never been able to pin down what was really going on.

efalk check the imdb discussion board for the film. There are several in depth interpretations of the film that I enjoyed reading, including this mammoth discussion.

Ya, just plain yogurt. It's so boring that she had to spend all her time at the cafe.

Response by poster: Argh, yes - come to think of it, it did look like yoghurt. I'm such an American, I can't even recognize yoghurt when not in small containers and with pieces of exotic fruit.
