Does anyone know where I can get some decent scans of Goofus and Gallant (Highlights Magazine) strips from the 70's?

Counting on the Internet for quality scans is always going to be more miss than hit. Your best bet on this one is to hit ebay, do a search for "highlights lot" and go from there.

I just looked and somebody has 7 of them from the mid-60s (I don't thing Goofus and Gallant would be so different from '64 as opposed to '74), and all for a 99 cent starting bid.

(The implication of my answer being, of course, that you'd scan them yourself upon receipt.)

reblix, are you looking for something specific, or just a random sample of the strips? I have (pls don't laugh) damn near every Highlights issue from my subscription in the early to mid 70s. I could be convinced to scan a few for you if you tell me more about what you're looking for/what you want them for. Email is in my profile.

On the other hand, they DO look significantly different now.

That's what they look like now? Wow. I'll admit that the original drawings are fuzzier and more vague than I remembered, but I still prefer them. hey you kids, off my lawn! Gallant wouldn't do that!

So, I scanned some of the strips from 1974-75. Here are two favorites.
